These crispy apple chips are thinly sliced, cinnamon-spiced, and baked to perfection for a healthy, guilt-free snack that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium-sized apples (Fuji, Honeycrisp, or Granny Smith)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional but recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (95°C).
  2. Wash and dry the apples. Using a mandoline or sharp knife, slice the apples into 1/8-inch (3 mm) thin rounds. Remove any seeds gently.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, toss the apple slices with 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, and a pinch of salt.
  5. Sprinkle the cinnamon mixture over the lemon-coated apple slices and toss gently to coat evenly.
  6. Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats. Arrange apple slices in a single layer without overlapping.
  7. Bake for about 1 hour, then carefully flip each slice. Bake for another 45-60 minutes, checking for crispness. Total baking time is about 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours.
  8. Transfer baked apple chips to a cooling rack to crisp up. If some slices are soft, bake for an additional 10-15 minutes.

Notes

Use a mandoline for uniform thin slices to ensure crispiness. Avoid overcrowding the baking sheets to prevent soggy chips. Flip slices halfway through baking for even drying. Watch the oven temperature carefully and start checking for doneness at 1 hour 30 minutes to avoid burning. Lemon juice prevents browning and enhances flavor. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
