  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt (sea salt recommended)
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. If using frozen shelled edamame, make sure they are fully thawed and patted dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine olive oil, smoked paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper if using. Stir until well blended.
  4. Add the dry edamame to the bowl and toss until every bean is evenly coated with the seasoned oil.
  5. Spread the edamame in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they have space to roast evenly.
  6. Roast for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring once halfway through (around 12 minutes). Watch closely near the end to avoid burning; the edamame should turn golden brown and feel crisp.
  7. Let the roasted edamame cool on the pan for about 5 minutes before serving to allow them to crisp up further.

Pat edamame dry thoroughly to ensure crispiness. Use high heat (400°F) and roast in a single layer to avoid steaming. Stir halfway through roasting for even crisping. Cool completely before storing to maintain crunch. For extra crunch, reheat in a warm oven for 5 minutes. Variations include adding nutritional yeast or Parmesan for a cheesy twist, or brown sugar/maple syrup for sweet & spicy flavor. Air fryer method: roast at 390°F for 15 minutes, shaking halfway.
