A creamy, spicy buffalo chicken dip baked inside a crusty sourdough bread bowl, perfect for game day or casual get-togethers. This easy recipe combines shredded chicken, cream cheese, buffalo sauce, and cheddar for a crowd-pleasing snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups shredded cooked chicken (about 8.8 oz)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup buffalo sauce (4 fl oz)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (3.5 oz)
  • 1/4 cup ranch dressing (2 fl oz)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 medium crusty round loaf of sourdough or boule bread (810 inches diameter)
  • Chopped green onions or fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice off the top of the bread loaf about 2-3 inches deep. Carefully hollow out the inside, leaving about a 1-inch thick shell all around. Save the bread chunks for dipping or toasting.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded chicken, buffalo sauce, shredded cheddar, ranch dressing, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until well incorporated and creamy.
  4. Spoon the buffalo chicken dip mixture into the hollowed bread bowl, packing gently but not overfilling.
  5. Place the filled bread bowl on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until cheese is bubbling and bread edges are golden and crisp.
  6. Remove from oven and garnish with chopped green onions or parsley. Serve with the bread top and reserved bread chunks for dipping.

Notes

Use room temperature cream cheese to avoid lumps. Adjust buffalo sauce quantity to control spiciness. Do not overfill the bread bowl to prevent spillover. Leftover dip can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently. For gluten-free, use gluten-free bread or serve dip with crackers or veggies.
