caramel apple dump cake - featured image

A quick and easy dessert made with frozen apple slices, yellow cake mix, and caramel sauce, baked to a golden, crispy crust with tender, juicy apples underneath.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 cups (about 600 g) frozen apple slices
  • 1 box (15.25 oz or 432 g) yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup (240 ml) caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Spread the frozen apple slices evenly in the bottom of a 9×13-inch (23×33 cm) baking dish. No need to thaw them first.
  3. Pour 1 cup (240 ml) of caramel sauce evenly over the apples.
  4. Evenly distribute the yellow cake mix over the caramel and apples without stirring.
  5. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes until the top is golden brown and caramel is bubbling around the edges. A toothpick inserted into the cake topping should come out mostly clean.
  6. Let the cake rest for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Do not stir the layers to keep the cake topping crisp. If the cake browns too quickly, tent with foil during the last 10 minutes of baking. Frozen apples save prep time and provide consistent texture. Optional additions include cinnamon, nutmeg, chopped nuts, or chocolate chips.
