  • 1 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese (150 g)
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup heavy cream (120 ml)
  • ½ cup yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Optional garnish: chopped fresh parsley or chives

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat, add ground beef, and cook for 5–7 minutes, breaking it apart until no pink remains. Drain excess fat if desired.
  3. Add butter to the skillet, then sauté chopped onion and minced garlic until softened and fragrant, about 3–4 minutes.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, heavy cream, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Whisk until smooth.
  5. Pour the creamy mixture into the skillet with beef and onions. Stir thoroughly to coat the beef evenly.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×9-inch baking dish and spread evenly.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the casserole.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes until bubbly and cheese is melted and slightly browned.
  9. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley or chives.

Notes

Softening the cream cheese ahead of time helps achieve a smooth sauce. Browning the beef well adds flavor. You can add vegetables like mushrooms or spinach for extra nutrition. For a dairy-free version, substitute cream cheese and heavy cream with plant-based alternatives. Baking time may vary depending on your oven and baking dish size.
