Fresh Red White and Blue Fruit Skewers with Easy Honey Yogurt Dip

These festive fruit skewers combine fresh strawberries, blueberries, and mini marshmallows threaded onto wooden skewers, served with a creamy honey yogurt dip. Perfect for summer occasions, they are quick to prepare and a crowd-pleasing healthy snack.

  • Fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
  • Blueberries, washed and dried
  • Mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (full-fat or 2%)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Wooden skewers, about 6 inches long

Instructions

  1. Wash the strawberries and blueberries thoroughly. Hull the strawberries by slicing off the green tops and halving them lengthwise. Pat all the fruit dry with a paper towel to avoid soggy skewers.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, combine 1 cup (240 ml) plain Greek yogurt with 2 tablespoons (30 ml) honey. Add ½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) vanilla extract if using, and stir until smooth. Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more honey if desired.
  3. Take a wooden skewer and thread on fruit in a repeating pattern: one strawberry half (red), one mini marshmallow (white), one blueberry (blue). Repeat this pattern until the skewer is nearly full, leaving about 1 inch (2.5 cm) at the bottom for holding. Each skewer should have about 3 or 4 of each item.
  4. Arrange the skewers on your serving platter with the honey yogurt dip in a small bowl on the side. If prepping ahead, cover and refrigerate the dip separately, and keep the skewers loosely wrapped in plastic wrap to avoid drying out.

Notes

Soak wooden skewers in water for 15 minutes before use to prevent burning if grilling. Keep the honey yogurt dip separate from the skewers until serving to avoid sogginess. For a dairy-free version, substitute Greek yogurt with thick coconut yogurt and honey with maple syrup. Avoid grilling marshmallow skewers as marshmallows melt quickly; instead, try dipping finished skewers in melted chocolate and chilling.
