An easy, decadent lobster tail recipe perfect for a special date night at home. This recipe delivers tender, buttery lobster tails with a rich garlic butter sauce in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large lobster tails (68 ounces each), fresh or frozen
  • 4 tablespoons (60g) unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced (about 1 tablespoon)
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika (or sweet paprika)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prep the Lobster Tails (5 minutes): Use kitchen shears to cut down the top of the lobster shell, stopping just before the tail fan. Pry the shell open gently and lift the meat out, resting it on top of the shell.
  2. Make the Garlic Butter Sauce (5 minutes): Melt butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add minced garlic and cook gently for 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned. Stir in fresh lemon juice and smoked paprika. Remove from heat.
  3. Season and Brush (3 minutes): Sprinkle lobster meat with salt and pepper, then brush generously with the garlic butter sauce using a basting brush.
  4. Broil Lobster Tails (8-10 minutes): Preheat oven broiler to high. Place lobster tails on a foil-lined baking sheet about 6 inches from the heat source. Broil until lobster meat is opaque and just starting to brown, about 8-10 minutes. Check at 7 minutes to avoid overcooking.
  5. Rest and Garnish (2 minutes): Remove from oven and let rest for 2 minutes. Spoon remaining garlic butter over the top and sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley.

Notes

Watch the broiler closely to avoid overcooking; start checking at 7 minutes. Use kitchen shears to safely cut the lobster shell. Use fresh garlic for best flavor and avoid bitterness. Save garlic butter drippings for dipping or drizzling. Thaw frozen lobster tails overnight in the fridge for best texture.
