These vibrant red, white, and blue layered jello shots are a quick, easy, and festive treat perfect for patriotic celebrations like the Fourth of July. The creamy white layer contrasts beautifully with the fruity red and blue layers, creating a fun and crowd-pleasing party favorite.

Ingredients

  • Red layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85g) strawberry or cherry flavored gelatin
  • Red layer: 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • Red layer: 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold vodka (regular or citrus-flavored)
  • White layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85g) unflavored gelatin powder
  • White layer: 1 cup (240 ml) cold milk (whole milk or 2%)
  • White layer: 1 cup (240 ml) sweetened condensed milk
  • White layer: 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold vodka
  • Blue layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85g) blue raspberry or blueberry flavored gelatin
  • Blue layer: 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • Blue layer: 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold vodka

Instructions

  1. Prepare the red layer: In a heatproof bowl, dissolve the red gelatin powder in 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water. Stir until completely dissolved (about 2 minutes). Add 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold vodka, mix well. Pour about 1 oz (30 ml) into each shot glass. Refrigerate for 30 minutes, until set but slightly tacky.
  2. Make the white layer: In a small saucepan, sprinkle unflavored gelatin over 1/4 cup (60 ml) cold milk and let it bloom for 5 minutes. Warm gently over low heat, stirring until gelatin dissolves completely. In a bowl, combine remaining 3/4 cup (180 ml) cold milk, sweetened condensed milk, and vodka. Slowly whisk in dissolved gelatin mixture. Let cool to room temperature (about 10 minutes), then carefully spoon or pour 1 oz (30 ml) over the red layer. Chill for 30 minutes until set.
  3. Prepare the blue layer: Dissolve blue gelatin powder in 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water, stir well, add 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold vodka. Cool slightly, then pour 1 oz (30 ml) over the white layer. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until fully set.
  4. Serve chilled: Keep the layered jello shots refrigerated until serving. They should be firm but still jiggle slightly when touched.

Notes

Let each layer chill until firm but slightly tacky before adding the next to avoid mixing. Cool the white layer mixture to room temperature before pouring to prevent melting the red layer. For faster setting, use the freezer for 10-15 minutes per layer but watch closely to avoid freezing. Use clear shot glasses for best visual effect. Non-alcoholic and dairy-free substitutions are possible.
