A warm, spiked apple cider margarita made in the slow cooker with just four ingredients. Perfect for parties and gatherings, this forgiving recipe fills your kitchen with an incredible aroma and pleases a crowd with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 64 ounces (1.9 liters) apple cider
  • 2 cups (480 ml) reposado tequila
  • 1 cup (240 ml) orange liqueur (triple sec, Cointreau, or Grand Marnier)
  • 4 to 6 cinnamon sticks
  • Optional garnishes: apple slices, cinnamon sticks, star anise, or small rosemary sprigs

Instructions

  1. Prepare the slow cooker: Rinse and dry a 6 to 8 quart slow cooker. Place it on a stable surface near an outlet.
  2. Add the apple cider: Pour the entire 64 ounces of apple cider into the slow cooker.
  3. Add the tequila and orange liqueur: Measure 2 cups reposado tequila and 1 cup orange liqueur, pour into the slow cooker, and stir briefly to combine.
  4. Add the cinnamon sticks: Drop in 4 to 6 whole cinnamon sticks, pushing them down to submerge as much as possible.
  5. Set the slow cooker: Cover and set to LOW heat. Do not use HIGH heat.
  6. Let it warm: Heat on low for 2 to 3 hours until warm and flavors meld. Taste after 2 hours.
  7. Prepare garnishes (optional): Wash and slice 1 to 2 apples into thin rounds. Rinse star anise or rosemary sprigs if using. Set in small bowls near the slow cooker.
  8. Serve: Ladle the warm margarita into mugs or heatproof glasses. Garnish with apple slices, cinnamon sticks, star anise, or rosemary. Let guests serve themselves.
  9. Keep warm: Switch to ‘warm’ setting if available, or leave on LOW. The drink stays perfect for 4 to 6 hours. Add a splash of fresh apple cider if it reduces too much.

Notes

Don’t let the mixture boil to avoid cooking off the alcohol. Toast cinnamon sticks in a dry skillet for 30 seconds per side before adding for deeper flavor. For larger parties, double the recipe. Prep liquid ingredients the night before and store in the fridge. Keep extra apple cider on hand to top off if the drink reduces. Taste before serving and adjust sweetness with a squeeze of lime or a tablespoon of maple syrup if needed.
