This spooky spiderweb Halloween party snack mix is a visually stunning, easy-to-make treat that combines salty pretzels, crunchy peanuts, sweet candy corn, and creamy white chocolate in a spiderweb design. Perfect for parties, it’s a crowd-pleaser that looks like it took hours but comes together quickly.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups mini pretzel twists
  • 2 cups salted peanuts
  • 1 cup candy corn
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 12 ounces white chocolate melting wafers
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening
  • 24 black licorice strings or black shoestring licorice
  • 24 round black candy melts or black jelly beans
  • Edible glitter or luster dust (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep your workspace. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside. Measure out your pretzels, peanuts, candy corn, and mini marshmallows into a large bowl. Give them a quick toss to combine.
  2. Melt the white chocolate. Place the white chocolate melting wafers and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly after each interval, until completely smooth. This usually takes about 2 to 3 minutes total. Be careful not to overheat — white chocolate burns easily and becomes grainy. If it seizes, add a teaspoon more coconut oil and stir vigorously.
  3. Coat the snack mix. Pour the melted white chocolate over the dry ingredients in the bowl. Stir gently with a spatula until everything is evenly coated. It should look like a messy, delicious cluster — don’t worry about perfection here.
  4. Spread on the baking sheet. Transfer the coated mixture to the prepared baking sheet. Spread it into an even layer, pressing down slightly so everything sticks together. Leave a little space around the edges.
  5. Create the spiderweb. Spoon any remaining melted white chocolate into a piping bag or zip-top bag. Snip off a tiny corner. Starting from the center of the snack mix, pipe a small circle. Then pipe concentric circles around it, spacing them about an inch apart. Working quickly while the chocolate is still wet, use a toothpick or skewer to drag lines from the center outward through the circles — this creates the classic web pattern. Wipe the toothpick clean between each drag for clean lines.
  6. Add the spiders. While the web chocolate is still wet, place a black candy melt or jelly bean at the end of each web line to create the spider body. Then gently press four pieces of black licorice string on each side of the body to form the legs. Press them into the wet chocolate so they stick. Repeat until you have as many spiders as you like — I usually do 6 to 8 for a nice scattered effect.
  7. Let it set. Allow the snack mix to cool completely at room temperature for about 1 hour, or pop it in the refrigerator for 20 minutes if you’re in a hurry. The chocolate should be firm and snap when broken.
  8. Break into pieces. Once set, use your hands to break the mix into irregular clusters. Don’t worry about keeping the web perfectly intact — the broken pieces will still show the web pattern beautifully.

Notes

Work quickly while the chocolate is warm. If the chocolate thickens, microwave for 10 seconds. Do not freeze to set, as it may cause bloom. For best results, let set at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
