Spooky Witchs Brew Halloween Punch – Easy Party Drink Recipe

Halloween punch recipe - featured image

A dramatic, bubbling Halloween punch that looks like a witch’s brew with a creamy lime sherbet top and eerie dry ice fog. Quick to assemble with simple ingredients, this non-alcoholic centerpiece is perfect for parties and can be easily spiked.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 quart lime sherbet (e.g., Breyers)
  • 12 oz can lemonade concentrate, thawed
  • 2 cups pineapple juice (100% juice, no added sugar)
  • 2 cups cranberry juice cocktail (e.g., Ocean Spray)
  • 2 liters ginger ale (e.g., Canada Dry or Schweppes)
  • Ice ring or large ice cubes (made in a bundt pan)
  • 12 pounds dry ice
  • Optional garnishes: gummy worms, plastic spiders, fresh mint leaves
  • For spiked version: 1-2 cups vodka or white rum

Instructions

  1. Make the ice ring at least 4 hours ahead or the night before: Fill a bundt pan halfway with water. Add a few drops of green food coloring if desired. Arrange gummy worms or plastic spiders in the water, then freeze for 2 hours. Once frozen, add more water to fill the pan completely and freeze for another 2 hours or overnight.
  2. Prepare the dry ice just before serving: Put on gloves or use tongs. Remove dry ice from packaging and wrap in a clean kitchen towel. Using a small hammer or mallet, gently break it into golf-ball-sized pieces. Set aside on a plate.
  3. Mix the juice base 5 minutes before serving: In a large pitcher, combine thawed lemonade concentrate, pineapple juice, and cranberry juice cocktail. Stir well.
  4. Assemble the punch bowl right before serving: Place the ice ring in the bottom of the punch bowl. Pour the juice mixture over the ice. Slowly pour in the entire 2-liter bottle of ginger ale.
  5. Add the sherbet: Using a large spoon, scoop softened lime sherbet into the punch bowl in large dollops. Do not stir—let it float on top. Use about 3/4 of the carton, reserving the rest for refills.
  6. Add the dry ice: Using tongs, carefully drop 4-5 dry ice pieces into the punch bowl. They will sink and produce thick, rolling fog. Replenish every 20-30 minutes as the fog dissipates.
  7. Garnish and serve: Add extra garnishes like gummy worms draped over the edge or plastic spiders floating on top. Place a ladle in the bowl and let guests serve themselves. Warn everyone not to eat or touch the dry ice pieces.

Notes

Dry ice is extremely cold (-109°F). Never touch it with bare skin—always use tongs or gloves. Store dry ice in a paper bag (not sealed) and use within 24 hours. Do not seal the punch bowl with a lid; dry ice needs to vent. Add dry ice in batches for a controlled fog effect. For best results, make the ice ring the night before and thaw lemonade concentrate in the fridge overnight.
